Joint Media Release: 20th Australia-Viet Nam Human Rights Dialogue

Australia and Viet Nam have successfully concluded their 20th Human Rights Dialogue, reaffirming their commitment to promoting and protecting human rights in the region.

The dialogue, held in Canberra, provided an opportunity for both countries to discuss a wide range of human rights issues and share best practices in human rights protection.

Key topics discussed included:

  • Freedom of expression and assembly
  • Labour rights and working conditions
  • Gender equality and women's rights
  • Indigenous rights and cultural protection
  • Religious freedom and tolerance

Both countries acknowledged the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in advancing human rights standards across the region.

"This dialogue demonstrates our shared commitment to upholding human rights and democratic values," said the Australian delegation leader.

The dialogue also included discussions on technical cooperation and capacity building initiatives to strengthen human rights institutions in both countries.

Both sides agreed to continue regular dialogue and explore new areas of cooperation in human rights promotion and protection.
