More than 100,000 potholes have been repaired across Victoria since 1 July, and crews are on track to fix more than 500,000 by the end of June 2027, Roads and Road Safety Minister Paul Hamer said. The work, funded by a $1.4 billion road maintenance investment, covers 6.8 million square metres of road at more than 1,000 projects, including the Western Highway, Hume Freeway and West Gate Freeway.

From Tuesday 13 October, Victorian concession holders including students, carers and pensioners can pay for public transport with a bank card, smartphone or smartwatch, Public Transport Minister Vicki Ward announced. Passengers tap on once, then link their concession entitlement through the Transport Victoria website, and should still carry proof of concession. More than 16 million contactless trips have been taken since tap and go began in March.
