New Zealand Police say one person has died in a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 6 (Kingston Road) at Kawarau Falls, Queenstown, early on Sunday 4 October 2026. The crash occurred shortly before 4am between Peninsula Road and Boyd Road; two people were seriously injured and one critically injured. Police say one lane had reopened but the Serious Crash Unit’s attendance was expected to close the road for a time.
