A motorcyclist has died in hospital after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Lake Road in Devonport, Auckland, around 8.50pm on Tuesday 20 October. The rider was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died on Monday morning, Police say. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Police have charged a 20-year-old man with attempted murder after a child was seriously assaulted at Myers Park in central Auckland about 4.45pm on Sunday. Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Sunny Patel says the child remains in Starship Hospital in a serious but stable condition, while the man is in hospital with self-inflicted injuries. Police are not seeking anyone else and ask witnesses with photos or video to call 105, quoting file number 261025/2283.

One person has died after a car hit a tree near the intersection of Montreal and Armagh Streets in Christchurch Central around 3.20am on Monday. Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison says the vehicle's sole occupant was found dead at the scene. The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit attended and reopened just after 7am, and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.
