Attorney General Ellie Reeves KC MP announced a nationwide Crown Prosecution Service rollout so every domestic abuse victim in England and Wales gets a dedicated victim liaison officer. The Universal and Enhanced Services, piloted since 2023, become the standard offer in every CPS Area from charge to trial. Victims will also be able to choose phone, email or post contact and should receive faster correspondence.

### [Measures to rewire the state](https://mediarelease.co/uk/mr01099-measures-to-rewire-the-state-27092026.html)

Issued by: Cabinet Office · Original source: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/measures-to-rewire-the-state

The Cabinet Office set out measures to put public spending back in service of communities, including expecting utility networks to create British jobs and apprenticeships. The National Shipbuilding Office will oversee all civil shipbuilding in government, and a new Insourcing Unit in the Office for the Prime Minister and Cabinet will drive a large wave of insourcing. Officials frame the package as rewiring how the state spends and delivers across the United Kingdom.

### [New reforms to bring more long-term empty homes back into use](https://mediarelease.co/uk/mr01047-new-reforms-to-bring-more-long-term-empty-homes-27092026.html)

Issued by: Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government · Original source: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-reforms-to-bring-more-long-term-empty-homes-back-into-use--2

The UK Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is reforming Empty Dwelling Management Orders so councils can act sooner on long-term vacant homes in England. Eligibility will fall from two years empty to six months, while ownership stays with the landlord for up to seven years of council management. Applications to the Residential Property Tribunal will also drop anti-social behaviour and community-support evidence requirements, and ministers say further EDMO changes are under review.
