Attributable to Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Baillie: A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Edgeware, Christchurch on Wednesday 30 September. Police were called to a Purchas Street property just before 6am, where the woman was located deceased. The man, aged 52, was taken into custody at the scene, and a murder charge was laid overnight. He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Christchurch District Court on 16 October. Police are not seeking anybody else in relation to this incident. A scene guard remains in place at the address while Police complete a scene examination. Residents can continue to expect a Police presence in the area as these enquires continue.
