NVIDIA Advances Agentic Security for Media, From European Public Service Broadcasting to Global Content Production

NVIDIA · Original source

At a media event in Berlin, NVIDIA said the European Broadcasting Union is expanding its sovereign standards for public service media with cloud providers, open model developers and systems integrators, so broadcasters can deploy AI agents while keeping control of data and models. Microsoft and Nebius will map the standards to sovereign deployment options. Adobe also showed GPU-accelerated Frame.io video search, citing about 5x faster embedding generation, for producers such as UFA.

Germany Wants to Lead the World in Industrial AI: How NVIDIA Will Help

NVIDIA · Original source

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang discussed Germany’s industrial AI plans at an event in Berlin, after federal ministries signed a Joint Declaration of Intent with NVIDIA to work on AI models for physical AI. Huang announced planned investments in four German startups, Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace, as part of NVIDIA’s nearly $10 billion commitment across Europe. Merz urged Germany’s Mittelstand firms to use their data for AI.

Advancing coding in low-resource programming languages

OpenAI · Original source

OpenAI says its latest models are markedly better at building and migrating software in low-resource programming languages such as COBOL, Fortran, OCaml and Visual Basic. On its new MultiLangBench evaluation, which OpenAI is releasing on GitHub, GPT-6 Astra averaged an 87.4% test pass rate across 20 languages, up from 26.8% for GPT-5.6 Sol. On a COBOL migration test, GPT-6.1 Sol reached 86.6% accuracy at low reasoning effort and 97.9% at higher effort.

Personalised Learning at National Scale

Scale AI · Original source

Scale AI has detailed an AI learning platform built with Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education under a multi-year agreement with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The platform offers students a curriculum-aligned AI tutor that works in Arabic, gives teachers an assistant for lesson plans and homework with review controls, and gives administrators dashboards tracking progress and learning gaps.

Securing the agentic insider

Microsoft · Original source

Microsoft security leader Hayete Gallot argues that AI agents deployed inside companies are often overprivileged and should be treated as “agentic insiders” that need continuous monitoring. She says Microsoft’s Project Perception, announced in July, can discover agents, assign them identities and permissions, score the risk of their actions and use supervising Guardian Agents to respond in real time. She also calls for greater model transparency, including chain-of-thought tokens.

Nebius backs Europe’s AI builders with $10M in compute, capital, and community programs

Nebius · Original source

Nebius is expanding its AI Builder Program into Europe with a $10 million commitment covering compute grants, founder funding links and community events. Grants target European open-source work such as open-weight models, coding agents, inference tooling and evaluation. Accel and other European venture firms will connect founders with investors, while Nebius and NVIDIA will run hackathons and demo days with AI Tinkerers, {Tech: Europe} and the European Student Robotics Association.

Amazon opens its AWS Trainium AI chips to every PyTorch developer, no rewrite needed

Amazon · Original source

Amazon has introduced TorchNeuron, software that lets existing PyTorch code run natively on AWS Trainium chips with a single configuration change rather than a rewrite. It supports Trainium2 and Trainium3 and will be open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 licence at PyTorch Conference North America on October 20. Early users include Cartesia and the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, and Hugging Face has added native Trainium support to its tools.
