Overview

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of MediaRelease.co (the “Site”), including country and topic pages (US, UK, AU, NZ, AI, and related state or regional pages), submission forms, and feeds. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

MediaRelease.co is a distribution and hosting surface for media releases. We are not a law firm, newsroom, or government agency, and nothing on the Site is legal, financial, or professional advice.

Media release content — responsibility of the release provider

MediaRelease.co does not accept responsibility for the content of media releases published on this Site. Responsibility for each release sits with the release provider — the issuing government office, department, agency, company, organisation, or the person or entity that submitted or supplied the material.

  • We may host, format, index, and display releases (including short listing teasers or synopses) so journalists and the public can find them.
  • Accuracy, completeness, tone, lawfulness, and any claims, opinions, or omissions in a release are the release provider’s responsibility, not ours.
  • Where a release page includes a Source link, that link is the default path to the provider’s original publication. Rely on the original source for authoritative wording.
  • Publication on MediaRelease.co is not an endorsement of any release, organisation, product, person, or political position.

If you believe content is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise improper, contact us and, where possible, the original release provider. We may remove or alter hosted copies at our discretion without admitting liability.

Submissions

If you submit a media release, newsroom details, or related materials (“Submission”), you represent and warrant that:

  • You have all rights, licences, and permissions needed to publish the content and to grant us the licence below;
  • The Submission is accurate to the best of your knowledge and is not unlawful, defamatory, misleading, fraudulent, or infringing of any third-party rights (including privacy, publicity, and intellectual property);
  • Any personal information in the Submission is included lawfully and, where required, with appropriate notice or consent; and
  • You are authorised to act for the organisation named in the Submission.

You remain solely responsible for your Submission. MediaRelease.co does not undertake to fact-check Submissions before or after publication. We may moderate, refuse, reformat, delay, unpublish, or remove any Submission at our discretion, including for legal, editorial, security, or quality reasons. We do not guarantee that a Submission will be accepted, published, ranked, or picked up by any media outlet.

Licence you grant us

You retain ownership of your content. By submitting, you grant MediaRelease.co a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display, distribute, and index the Submission on and through the Site and related feeds or social roundups we operate for MediaRelease.co. This licence continues for as long as we host a copy, and survives termination for archived copies we are entitled to retain.

Use of the Site

  • Do not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, scrape in a way that harms the service, or attempt unauthorised access to systems or data.
  • Do not submit malware, spam, or automated junk, and do not use the Site to harass others or to violate applicable law (including US federal and state law where relevant).
  • Do not imply that MediaRelease.co authored, verified, or endorses a release unless we have agreed to that in writing.

Intellectual property

The MediaRelease.co name, logo, site design, and our original compilation and software are protected by intellectual property laws. Release text and associated materials remain owned by their respective providers or submitters, subject to the licence above and any rights those providers grant the public.

US users and availability

The Site is offered to users in the United States and internationally. Features, listing limits, and available jurisdictions may change. Nothing on a US federal or state page constitutes an official government publication; official documents remain those published by the relevant US agency or office on their own channels.

If you are a consumer in the United States, these Terms are intended to be enforceable to the maximum extent permitted by applicable federal and state law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed.

Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, including US privacy rights and how release-provider content is treated. By using the Site you also acknowledge that policy.

No guarantees

The Site and all content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any release is accurate or fit for your purposes.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MediaRelease.co and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or reliance on any media release.

In particular, we are not liable for claims arising from the content of a media release, including claims of defamation, inaccuracy, omission, or infringement, which remain with the release provider.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Site or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to us (if any) for the service in the three months before the claim, or (b) USD $50. These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, except where prohibited by law.

Indemnity

If you submit content or link to the Site in a commercial capacity, you agree to defend and indemnify MediaRelease.co and its operators against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your Submission, your misuse of the Site, or your breach of these Terms — except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct.

Third-party links

Source links and other outbound links are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for third-party sites, their content, or their privacy practices.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Site, or remove content, at any time if we believe these Terms have been violated or if needed for legal or security reasons. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including content responsibility, licence for hosted copies, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) will survive.

Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page and changing the “Last updated” date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires additional notice or consent.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence (including applicable US state consumer laws) continue to apply where they cannot be waived. Courts in New Zealand may hear disputes, without limiting any non-waivable right you have to bring a claim in your home jurisdiction where required by law.
