Royal Solomon Islands Police Force join UK leadership programme

The British High Commission in Honiara reports that two Royal Solomon Islands Police Force officers have begun the UK College of Policing’s month-long International Leadership Programme. Director of Close Personal Protection Aipo Kabwere and Western Province Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Wilken Miriki travelled to the United Kingdom on 25 September 2026. The exchange sits within the UK-supported Pacific Policing Leadership Programme, which has reached almost 400 officers across the Pacific and eight RSIPF participants to date.

Healey pledges “new age of industrialisation” as Government backs British shipbuilding

HM Treasury says multi-billion-pound maritime contracts will be delivered by British shipyards, with Chancellor John Healey framing the package as a “new age of industrialisation”. Programme Euston will supply three new floating docks for the Royal Navy’s submarine service at HM Naval Base Clyde via a UK-only competition, backing maintenance for the nuclear fleet. A separate new marine research vessel, due in the early 2030s, will replace an ageing ship to support sea security, sustainable fishing and coastal communities.
