The Ministry of Defence and QinetiQ have launched Project Safari, a programme giving small and medium-sized firms a single front door to the UK’s sovereign test and evaluation facilities and simpler trial approvals. Defence Readiness and Industry Minister Luke Pollard visited MOD Hebrides, the UK’s largest weapons test range, and signed an agreement with QinetiQ for the first design stage of an investment to enable hypersonic missile testing there.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a Food Alert for Action telling businesses to withdraw and recall eggs from one Ukrainian supplier after UKHSA testing found Salmonella Enteritidis. The strain does not match the outbreak currently under investigation but is linked to 36 Salmonella cases reported in England in 2026. The eggs are mainly supplied to wholesalers and caterers, with some sold in small shops; UK-produced and major supermarket eggs are not affected.

Responding to an agreement between the US and Russia, a UK government spokesperson said the UK will keep working with international partners to give Ukraine the military and financial support it needs and maintain pressure on Russia through sanctions. The spokesperson said Russia has repeatedly rejected ceasefires. The government said it fully supports US-led efforts to secure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
