Gov. Braun Cuts Child Care Waitlist by 78% Through Historic Investment
Indiana Governor Mike Braun said the state’s Child Care and Development Fund voucher waitlist has fallen 78% since May, from 41,175 children to 9,006 at the end of October, after a $200 million investment from the Financial Responsibility and Opportunity Growth Fund announced in April 2026. Nearly 48,000 children now receive vouchers. Funding prioritized siblings, infants, toddlers and preschool-age children, with exemptions for foster, kinship and other groups.
