MediaRelease.co Summary

Cohere announced a proposed agreement to acquire AISLE, a company founded in 2025 that builds autonomous systems to discover and help fix previously unknown software vulnerabilities. AISLE says it found more than 500 CVE-assigned vulnerabilities across over 100 codebases in its first year, including all 12 in OpenSSL's January security release. Cohere said the deal would strengthen security across its sovereign AI platform and deepen its presence in Europe, following its acquisition of Reliant AI and partnership with Aleph Alpha.

Original release

Today Cohere announced a proposed agreement to acquire AISLE, the company building autonomous systems to discover and remediate previously unknown vulnerabilities in critical software.

The proposed transaction represents another important step in Cohere's mission to build the world's leading sovereign AI platform, combining frontier AI models, agentic applications, secure deployment infrastructure, and advanced security capabilities that enable organizations to deploy AI with confidence.

It also reflects our continued investment in Europe. Following our acquisition of Reliant AI and partnership with Aleph Alpha, the addition of AISLE would deepen our presence across the region and strengthen European AI and cybersecurity capabilities that help protect critical infrastructure, governments, and highly regulated industries around the world.

Security is becoming the defining challenge of enterprise AI

As organizations move AI from experimentation to production, security has become one of the most important factors determining successful adoption.

Enterprises and governments are increasingly navigating complex requirements around data protection, governance, regulatory compliance, software vulnerabilities, and the risks associated with more autonomous AI systems. At the same time, they are looking for AI partners that can deliver the flexibility to operate in private cloud, on-premises, and fully air-gapped environments without compromising security or control.

Addressing these security challenges requires more than powerful models. It requires a full-stack approach that brings together AI, cybersecurity, governance, and secure deployment. That's why we're excited about the opportunity to bring AISLE's expertise into Cohere.

Why AISLE

Founded in 2025, AISLE has developed innovative AI systems capable of discovering, validating and helping remediate previously unknown vulnerabilities in complex production software. Its approach combines increasingly capable foundation models with specialized security expertise, large-scale code analysis, rigorous validation and automated remediation.

In its first year, AISLE discovered more than 500 previously unknown vulnerabilities assigned CVEs across more than 100 codebases, including all 12 vulnerabilities in OpenSSL's January security release and 18 of the 24 CVEs in curl's latest release. These real-world zero-day vulnerabilities are independently reviewed by the relevant software maintainers, demonstrating the growing capabilities of autonomous AI security systems.

AISLE's results also highlight an important insight: the capabilities of a foundation model and the specialized system built around it can reinforce each other. By bringing AISLE's autonomous security research closer to Cohere's frontier-model development and training, we see an opportunity to build more capable cybersecurity systems while exploring how difficult, verifiable security problems can help evaluate and improve future models.

Strengthening Europe's role in the future of AI

Europe is becoming increasingly important in the development of sovereign AI. Governments and enterprises across the region are seeking technology partners that can deliver advanced AI capabilities while meeting stringent requirements around security, privacy, compliance, and data sovereignty. Cohere has made significant investments to support those needs, and this deal would further expand our ability to serve customers across Europe and globally.

What this means for customers

AISLE's technology will strengthen Cohere's ability to help customers build and operate secure, cyber-resilient AI systems.

The combined capabilities are expected to enhance Cohere’s ability to:

  • Deliver advanced security and threat detection capabilities across enterprise and public sector deployments.
  • Strengthen governance, monitoring, and observability for AI agents and autonomous workflows.
  • Improve protections for sensitive organizational data and mission-critical systems.
  • Support secure AI deployments across private cloud, on-premises, and fully air-gapped environments.
  • Advance the development of cyber-resilient AI systems capable of identifying, prioritizing, and responding to emerging threats.

Looking ahead

At Cohere, we've long believed that organizations should maintain control over their AI strategy, data, infrastructure and governance. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in critical workflows, securing the software these systems depend on is becoming just as important.

Increasingly capable AI systems are transforming both cybersecurity and the threats organizations face, and defensive capabilities must advance just as quickly. By combining AISLE's autonomous vulnerability research with Cohere's frontier models and sovereign AI platform, we aim to make discovering, validating and fixing software vulnerabilities a continuous, scalable capability that helps protect critical systems.

We're excited about what we can build together and look forward to officially welcoming the AISLE team to Cohere.
