Vantage has secured more than 1 GW of manufacturing capacity for Heron Power Electronics’ Heron Link solid-state transformer to deploy across its hyperscale data center campuses. Heron Link converts medium-voltage grid power directly to 800-volt direct current with integrated energy storage, targeting more than 98.5% efficiency. The companies say the design cuts conversion stages and equipment compared with 480 VAC systems and supports megawatt-class AI rack densities.

Agreement advances 800 VDC architecture designed to help customers deploy AI capacity faster, improve energy efficiency and reduce electrical infrastructure requirements

DENVER and SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2026) – Vantage, a leading global provider of digital infrastructure, and Heron Power Electronics, a manufacturer of next-generation power electronics and a participant in NVIDIA’s 800-volt direct current (800 VDC) MGX ecosystem, today announced a strategic, gigawatt-scale manufacturing capacity agreement.

Under the agreement, Vantage has secured over 1GW of manufacturing capacity of Heron Link, Heron’s solid-state transformer (SST), to deploy in its hyperscale data center campuses. The collaboration is designed to give artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud customers a faster, more efficient and scalable way to deploy the high-density infrastructure required for next-generation computing.

As AI rack densities approach megawatt-class power requirements and the grid needs additional flexible and interactive loads, customers face growing constraints related to power availability, electrical equipment, deployment timelines and cost. Heron Link is designed to address those challenges by converting medium-voltage grid power directly to 800 VDC with integrated energy storage, reducing the number of conversion stages and simplifying the path from the grid to the rack.

A Simpler, More Scalable Power Architecture for AI

Traditional data center electrical systems rely on multiple stages of conversion, energy storage and distribution between the grid and the rack. As rack densities increase, these systems can require more equipment, conductors, floor space, installation labor and commissioning time, adding cost and complexity for customers seeking to bring AI capacity online quickly. This architecture will provide customers with five key benefits:

  • Faster time to capacity: Fewer equipment dependencies and installation steps shorten the electrical critical path, helping customers bring AI capacity online faster.
  • Greater energy efficiency: Fewer power-conversion stages reduce energy losses between the grid and the rack. Heron Link targets more than 98.5% efficiency from medium voltage to 800 VDC.
  • Support for higher-density computing: 800 VDC distribution is designed to support rapidly increasing AI power requirements, including megawatt-class rack densities.
  • Lower infrastructure requirements: A simplified electrical design reduces equipment, floor space, materials and installation labor compared with conventional 480-volt alternating current (480 VAC) architecture.
  • Enhanced energy flexibility: Integrated energy storage improves utilization of grid assets by buffering dynamic AI loads and enables data centers to operate as more flexible grid partners.

“Our customers need a faster and more efficient way to deploy increasingly power-dense and flexible AI infrastructure,” said Curtis Aubry, vice president, global product strategy at Vantage. “By simplifying the electrical architecture and integrating power conversion, energy storage and compute more effectively, we can help reduce deployment complexity, improve efficiency and accelerate our customers’ speed to capacity.”

“Heron was founded to modernize electrical infrastructure and enable an electrified economy,” said Drew Baglino, founder and CEO of Heron Power. “By partnering with Vantage to deploy more than a gigawatt of Heron Links in data centers, we will move 800 VDC from a reference architecture concept to a repeatable, deployed platform, delivering power from grid to rack in an integrated system.”
