  • Community organisations can apply for grants of up to $20,000 for events taking place between 1 July and 31 December 2027.
  • The $500,000 funding pool will bring communities together, strengthen social cohesion and celebrate Queensland’s rich cultural diversity.
  • The Crisafulli Government is supporting multicultural communities and bringing Queenslanders together after Labor’s decade of decline.

The Crisafulli Government is backing grassroot organisations to bring communities together and celebrate diverse cultures and connections across Queensland.

The Celebrating Multicultural Queensland grant program will support locally led community events that create opportunities for Queenslanders to connect, build a stronger sense of belonging and encourage social cohesion, while celebrating their vibrant cultures and traditions.

It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering better services through a stronger economy and backing multicultural communities across Queensland after Labor spread fear over facts during their decade of decline.

More than 140 events across Queensland have been supported through Celebrating Multicultural Queensland grants in 2026, including the Multicultural Festival on Thursday Island, Townsville’s Greek Day Out, and the Lockyer Valley Festival of Cultures in Gatton.

Applications for Round 2 of the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program are now open, with $500,000 available for events taking place between 1 July and 31 December 2027.

Community organisations can apply for grants of up to $20,000 to deliver multicultural festivals, cultural celebrations and intercultural sporting events.

Minister for Multiculturalism Fiona Simpson said these locally led festivals and cultural events would build bridges of understanding and bring communities together.

“Queenslanders come from more than 220 countries and territories, with our culturally and linguistically diverse peoples making an important contribution to the social, cultural and economic strength of our state,” Minister Simpson said.

“These community-orientated festivals, celebrations and sporting events provide the opportunity to celebrate heritage, share traditions and build lasting connections.

“The Crisafulli Government is proud to continue to support locally led events which celebrate cultural diversity, as well as strengthen participation, understanding and belonging.

“We’ve supported an incredible range of local events in communities across the State through the program this year, and I hope to see grassroot organisations putting their hands up once again with their planned celebrations for next year.”

Applications close on 2 November 2026. For more information, visit the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program's website.
