Five people were arrested after an aggravated robbery at a karaoke bar in Somerville, east Auckland, about 1.40am. Detective Senior Sergeant Veronica McPherson said masked offenders took the till and fled. They abandoned one vehicle then used a stolen Nissan before officers stopped them.

Coppers nab copper thieves in Kāpiti

Three men aged 33, 39 and 45 have been charged after an attempt to steal copper cabling from a Waikanae development site about 1am. One was caught at the scene, another tracked by the Police Dog Unit, and a third found hiding in a pond. They appear in Porirua District Court on 6 October.
