DENVER - Colorado will have two new governors this month. On Monday, Oct. 12, Governor Angelique Tolbert will take office, followed by Governor Wes Hancock on Wednesday, Oct. 28, as part of the “Governor for a Day” initiative. Governor Polis previously announced the winners of the “Governor for a Day” contest on September 14.

“I am thrilled that both Angelique and Wes are joining me at the Capitol this month. Angelique’s leadership background and Wes’s knowledge of state government are impressive. Angelique and Wes will get a front row seat to see how state government delivers real results for Coloradans. I look forward to the fresh perspective each of them will bring to the State Capitol,” said Governor Jared Polis.

Governor for a Day gives Colorado students a front-row seat to how state government works and a chance to lead on the issues that matter to them and their communities. Angelique Tolbert, an eighth grade student at Sky Vista Middle School in Aurora, and Wes Hancock, an eighth grade student at Ridgeline Middle School in Windsor, were selected from over 150 applicants across the state.
