PORTLAND – Hours after winning a decisive victory in the race for governor, Governor-elect Hannah Pingree stood with her husband, Jason Mann, and their two children, before a large crowd of supporters in Portland on Wednesday morning. She thanked the Mainers who powered her campaign and announced the launch of her transition website, www.hannahpingreetransition.com.

She will be officially sworn in as Maine’s 76th governor on Wednesday, January 6, 2027.

“I am humbled, honored and grateful to the people of Maine. It is the privilege of my life to be elected your governor, and I promise to work as hard as I can, every single day, for every person, family and community in this state,” said Governor-elect Hannah Pingree. “Over seventeen months, I saw Maine people worried about the cost of everything, and still they stepped up for each other again and again. In this election, Mainers chose caring for your neighbors over noise and negativity, and leadership that gets things done by bringing people together.”

Governor-elect Hannah Pingree also celebrated the victory of her good friend, U.S Senator-elect Troy Jackson, and the strong results in Maine House and Senate races, where Democrats expanded their majorities. The Governor-elect said she looks forward to working with legislators from both parties for the good of Mainers. A former Speaker of the Maine House who has spent 25 years in public service, she has long been known for working across the aisle, bringing everyone to the table and respecting them, and she pledged to bring that approach to the Blaine House.

“I’ve been in public service for twenty-five years, and here is what I’ve learned: the big things only happen when you stay focused, you don’t give up and bring people together who don’t always agree,” said Hannah. “I’m grateful to the voters who sent a strong group of leaders to the State House, and I look forward to working with every one of them, Democrats, Republicans and independents, to get things done for Maine people. We’re heading into a hard winter and we’re going to need to get to work.”

At the transition website, www.hannahpingreetransition.com, Mainers can receive updates, apply to serve in her Cabinet and Governor’s Office, sign up for news, and support her incoming Administration and inauguration. The State of Maine provides a Governor-elect an allowance of $5,000 to support a Governor’s transition and inauguration, which means it’s up to the Governor-elect to raise funds to assist this work.

Under Maine law, the Governor-elect is required to establish two separate committees: a Transition Committee to help assemble the Governor-elect’s staff and Cabinet and an Inaugural Committee to plan the inauguration ceremony and related events. Continued support from Maine people will help Governor-elect Pingree build a strong team, plan a meaningful inauguration, and hit the ground running on day one.

Governor-elect Pingree said her work will center on the priorities she campaigned on:

  • Housing that young families, workers and seniors can afford
  • Health care that is close to home, affordable and easier to navigate
  • Strong communities with good jobs, a healthy environment, thriving small businesses, great public schools and safe neighborhoods

“This isn’t the finish line. It’s the starting line,” Governor-elect Pingree said. “Maine’s future is worth the fight, and now, let’s get to work building it together.”

In the coming days, Governor-elect Pingree will continue to make announcements about her transition.
