The Carroll Labor Government is making it even easier for students, carers and pensioners to use public transport.
From Tuesday, 13 October, all concession holders will be able to pay for their journey using a bank card, smartphone or smartwatch across Victoria.
How to link your concession
To apply, passengers must first tap on at any reader on the public transport network.
They then need to visit the Transport Victoria website and follow the prompts to link their concession entitlement.
Once that is done, the card is permanently linked to your concession.
Passengers can also get assistance to set it up from Metro and V/Line customer assistance staff.
Concession holders should continue to carry proof of their concession entitlement when travelling.
Tap and go uptake
This new instalment follows the successful introduction of tap and go across Victoria.
Since March, more than 16 million contactless trips have already been taken across the network.
Anyone preferring to use a physical myki card, paper ticket or eTicket are still be able to do so. Passengers under 18 can continue to use their Youth myki to travel for free across the state.
Labor is also making travel more affordable, with half-price fares until the end of the year – saving regular commuters more than $850.
Only Labor is making public transport more affordable and easier to use.
Jess Wilson’s Liberal-One Nation Coalition have a $40 billion cuts plan which will see services slashed and fares increased.
