Australia will co-host a Pacific Pre-COP Leaders' event in Fiji and Tuvalu from 5 to 7 October 2026, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese travelling for the talks ahead of COP31 in Türkiye. Canberra secured the COP31 President of Negotiations role at COP30 and will elevate Pacific climate priorities. Ministers Chris Bowen and Kate Thwaites accompany the PM; Richard Marles will act as Prime Minister.
