Design and site investigations have begun on duplicating the Hope Island Road bridges at Jabiru Island on the northern Gold Coast, part of the Queensland Government's Gold Coast Transport Plan. The project will duplicate the 236-metre Coombabah Creek Bridge and the 194-metre flood relief channel bridge to complete a four-lane link. Geotechnical and utility investigations are expected to continue into early 2027.

Safety upgrades on the Cunningham Highway between Tregony and Maryvale in southern Queensland are complete, including road widening, pavement strengthening and more than 3.2 kilometres of guardrail. The Australian and NSW governments will invest more than $1.74 billion in three regional NSW road corridors under the new Regional Corridors Upgrade Program, with $697 million from the Commonwealth and $1.049 billion from NSW. Study reveals broad support for limits on screen use in schools as students self-report distraction in class

A Macquarie University-led survey of 1,057 students, 914 teachers, 166 school leaders and 1,686 parents and carers in NSW found broad support for limits on young people's screen use. Just 8 per cent of high school students said they consistently monitor their screen time and 84 per cent reported being distracted by screens in class.
